Whitewater north exclusive activity in unique locations!
White water tubing is one of the most fun and accessible ways to experience moving water in the Lake District and Cumbria. Riding individual inflatable tubes, you’ll float, spin, surf, and splash your way through natural rapids and flowing sections of river.
Unlike rafting, tubing puts you right at the surface of the water, creating a more personal and playful connection with the river.
Along the way, there’s time for river games, learning how to move with the flow, and appreciating the natural environment around you. As with all Whitewater North activities, safety is central we provide all specialist equipment and thorough briefings before getting on the water.
Swimwear to wear under your kit
A towel and dry clothes for after (and to arrive wearing, please)
Sturdy closed-toe old trainers, boots, or water shoes you don’t mind getting wet
(no crocs or beach shoes)
Any personal medication you may need (e.g. inhalers)
Everything else is provided.
Guided whitewater tubing with experienced instructors
All specialist safety equipment (helmet, buoyancy aid, wetsuit, wetsuit socks)
Full safety briefing before getting on the river
A playful, fast-paced river experience using natural features and flow
No hidden extras — just turn up ready to get soaked
Locations:
We run tubing on a range of rivers across Cumbria and the Lake District. Most venues are within 20 minutes of Junction 36 on the M6, sometimes east, sometimes west.
Meeting point:
Water levels matter, so we choose the best river for tubing close to the date. You’ll receive a confirmation email the day before with exact meeting details, parking, and timings.
Group sizes:
Smaller bookings may be combined with other guests. If you want a fully private experience, consider booking a private session.
We use our local knowledge to pick rivers that make tubing playful, safe, and properly fun on the day.
Tubing is more flexible than raftin, but it still depends on the river behaving itself.
If water levels are low, tubing often works brilliantly
If water levels are too high or pushy, tubing may not be suitable or might need to be relocated
If levels are too high for tubing, we’ll offer you:
Whitewater rafting instead, where being in a raft is the better option

Meeting point: Because water levels change, we choose the best river for your group close to the date. You’ll receive a final confirmation email the day before your trip with exact meeting details, parking info, and timings.
Group sizes: If you book with fewer than 6 people, your group may be split across rafts with other guests (we’ll always try to keep you together where possible).
Private raft: Want your own boat? Book a private raft to guarantee your group stays together.
We pride ourselves on local knowledge of a huge amount of venues, choosing rivers that deliver the best experience on the day.
We’re active kayakers ourselves and won’t run rafting trips unless the river is genuinely worth it
If levels are too low for proper Whitewater rafting, we’ll be honest.
